Stephen Tharrett, M.S. has been involved with the fitness industry for more than three decades. During his extensive career, Stephen has held a variety of positions in the field, including working a YMCA, corporate fitness (Chemical Bank), and the commercial fitness sector. Stephen spent 20 years with ClubCorp, a Dallas, Texas-based company that owns and operates a number of private country clubs, business clubs, and sports clubs. In 2004, Stephen started his own company, Club Industry Consulting, which provides club owners and operators with a variety of high-level consulting services. From the summer of 2008 till the fall of 2010, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Russian Fitness Group, owners and operators of 48 clubs in Russia and a top 25 global fitness company by revenues. From 1994 to 1997, Stephen served on the IHRSA Board and was elected as IHRSA’s President in 1996. He has also been a co-editor of the 2nd, 3rd and soon to be released 4th edition of the landmark text, ACSM’s Health/Fitness Facility Standards and Guidelines. In addition, Stephen has authored three other books, including Fitness Management, one of only two textbooks on the market on managing a health/fitness club.

Frank O’Rourke is a fitness-industry veteran, with over 20 years of experience in personal fitness coaching and equipment sales. Upon graduation from the University of Oklahoma, Frank began his career in fitness with Johnson and Johnson Health Management and the North Dallas Athletic Club. From 1994 to 2001, Frank successfully promoted both commercial and consumer lines of equipment with Cybex and Ground Zero, now known as Free Motion Fitness. In 2002, he joined Nautilus as a territory manager for the south central region, and won the organization’s sales person of the year award in 2003. In 2004, Frank was recruited by Connell Communications, a print media company, to serve as the national sales director for its Health & Lifestyle Division. In 2007, Frank returned to Nautilus, as the head of sales for Latin America, and was subsequently promoted to regional manager for Asia Pacific and Latin America in 2008. In 2009, Nautilus sold its commercial interest in StairMaster and Schwinn Fitness. Frank then transitioned to the new company, which was designated as StairMaster, where he currently serves as its director of international sales.

James A. Peterson, Ph.D., FACSM is currently the owner and publisher for two Monterey, California-based companies that produce instructional materials, Coaches Choice and Healthy Learning. From 1971 to 1990, he was a member of the faculty at the United States Military Academy. Subsequently, he spent five years as the director of sports medicine for StairMaster Sports/Medical Products, Inc., based in Kirkland, Washington. He is the author of more than 80 books and more than 200 published articles. He has appeared on a number of national television shows, including ABC’s Good Morning America, ABC’s Nightline, and the CBS Evening News. His written efforts have appeared in a variety of publications, including The New York Times.
